Description
The death of Grigori Rasputin is one of those weird things that nags me in the back of my head until I do something about it, usually in the form of drawing it. William Kentridge's Drawing from Stereoscope is one of those things, too. Hence the straight-up blue waterfall stuff going on there.
I find the Christian religion to be very fascinating, though I treat it more like a set of mythologies than what everybody else wants me to view it as. ahaha
I never really followed the religion at all, even when I was little, though I picked up on a lot of details, like the importance of the number three as a symbol, and a few other elements and symbols.
This was mostly just supposed to be an experimental piece but hoooooo dayummm it turned out good so in the portfolio it goes
Brotip: use gold water-based ink instead of gold acrylic when making things fancy and sparkly in a watercolour painting. But wait for it to dry completely or random parts of the painting will be sparkly.
EDIT: the hand signal Rasputin is making in the painting within the painting is the tibetan mudra for warning
the more you know~
